NATIONAL READING DAY
National Reading Day. On 25th September 2018, Worldreader organised a day event to commemorate National Reading Day at British Council. The event was supported by the Ministry of Education (Republic of Ghana), as well as local and international stakeholders working in the education sector especially in the area of reading. The chairperson, Naa Korkor Aadzieoyi I, Queenmother of Adabaraka, expressed the need for traditional leaders to visit schools in their community to encourage the children to learn and read books. She has visited schools in the past and knows it helps the children. She talked about how reading improves discipline and memory. Studies show if you don't read often, it becomes extremely difficult to recall facts you have read. She talked about her current Read for Me project with Ama Atta Aidoo creative writing center.
