*NUGS CONGRESS IS NOT AT PENTECOST UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, TREAT ANY PERSON(S) PERPETUATING SUCH MISINFORMATION AS UNION WRECKERS.*

We bring you greetings from our Unified Aspirants Front of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS). Permit us to use this opportunity to first of all appreciate the support so far realized from various institutions, Local NUGS Executives, Fellow Students and all stakeholders of NUGS whose passion and spirit to unite our broken union has outweighed self parochial interest.

We, aspirants of NUGS, hereby having unified in respect of our quest to seeing to the successful organization of a unity congress, one without any division whatsoever would like to put on record that, any congress whatsoever, scheduled to take place anywhere or taking place anywhere from 7th-10th November should be treated with all the contempt it deserves. We (Aspirants), are major stakeholders as regards proceedings of congress and as far as we know, we have no business with any congress purporting to be ongoing at Pentecost University College, Sowutuom.

Permit us to set the records straight; On the 8th of September, 2018, a Unity Central Committee Meeting held at Presbyterian College of Education, Akuapem Akropong constitutionally constituted a vetting committee (according to Article 60) with their mandate to oversee the qualification or otherwise of candidates (Article 60 c, d) for the impending conduct of elections at congress. Mr. Kwame Bonah Osafo-Amponsah (Immediate Past National GRASAG President) became the Chairman of this vetting committee with Mr. Albert Oppong Kesse (USAG President) as Secretary to the committee whereas Mr. Patrick Karikari Antwi(of TTAG) was PRO to this committee . In the light of this, the committee duly issued an official communiqué notifying the general public on the opening of nominations. Students aspiring to be executives picked forms, filled and rightly submitted these aspirant's nomination forms at a deadline to no other committee but this constitutionally mandated committee led by the aforementioned officers. At the receipt of such forms, the vetting committee through the PRO, Mr. Patrick Karikari Antwi communicated to the general public the aspirants who had successfully filed nominations. Successful applicants then awaited to be vetted by this constitutionally mandated vetting panel according to Article 60(a) of the NUGS constitution. It is thus surprising for any person or group of persons to be parading themselves as a vetting committee, with mandate to vet some aspirants at an ongoing illegal congress at the Pentecost University College, Sowutuom. Therefore, we would like to entreat all students of Ghana, both home and abroad to see the aspirants as well as persons purporting to hold such a congress at the aforementioned school as union wreckers. They are evil perpetuating yet another division at our national students front, NUGS. We disassociate ourselves from such a divisive group of evil perpetuators and pray fellow students of Ghana to disregard and disassociate themselves from same.

We are thereby craving the indulgence of all media houses to the illegality ongoing and thus to say, no media house or platform should engage any person or group of persons who from now until the official unity congress is duly communicated may pride him/herself or themselves as Executives Elect of NUGS. It should be strongly noted that, we, the aspirants are yet be vetted as constitutionally required of us. No such persons are aspirants so have no legal grounds to in the first place parade him/herself as a candidate of NUGS 2018/19. Officially, the vetting committee is yet to communicate a day for our vetting but unofficially as we have been told, vetting is on 9th to 11th November at the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi campus. The media and all students are thus unofficially invited to witness the beginning of the processes leading to elections of aspirants for the much anticipated unity congress of NUGS.
