BEAUTIFUL BENEATH MADE HISTORY!!

Beautiful Beneath Made History..

Beautiful Beneath in partnership with Cancer Support Network Ghana, organised a one week event to support and educate citizens on breast and cervical cancer by interacting with people on the street.

The event ended Saturday, 6th October 2018 with free breast cancer screening on the premises of Beautiful Beneath in East Legon, Accra. The participating attendees were grateful for this opportunity to be informed, screened and educated about breast cancer

Doctors and health professionals at the event encouraged participants to have regular breast check ups. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer that affects women and the most common cause of cancer death in Ghana.

Cancer is a growth of abnormal cells in the breast. If undetected these cells can invade healthy breast tissue nearby as well as the lymph system in the armpit.

When the invasive cancer goes undetected and untreated for an extended period, it can also spread (metastasize) to other organs such as the lungs, bone, brain and liver.

The goal of breast cancer screening tests is to detect possible problems before symptoms appear, for instance a lump that can be felt. Early detection and effective treatment is the only cure for breast cancer.

Even though organisers faced challenges, they were grateful for the turn out and support from sponsors and volunteers. They promised it will be bigger and better next October.
