10th October Mental Health Day

Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is observed on 10th October, with the overall objective to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.
According to the World Health Organization, it is estimated that of the 21.6 million people living in Ghana, 650,000 are suffering from a severe mental disorder and 2,166,000 are suffering from a mild to moderate form of mental disorder.
Unfortunately, only 28% of those suffering from mental disorders are believed to be receiving treatment.
As a country, we need to wake up and create awareness for better health care, especially for those living with mental illness.
Anyone can be a victim of depression, schizophrenia , affective psychosis, brain syndrome and more.
We must stop discrimination and stigmatization against people with mental illness by showing them love and support.
