Experience vs Qualification
Experience vs Qualification
This is topic I feel very strongly about.
I believe that qualifications, be it a diploma or degree, is merely a resource to assist one in whichever field they intend to work for that particular occupation(s). The concern I have is when we spend years obtaining what is considered "qualifications" and we don't know how we will use it or even worse if it will ever be used!!!
Obtaining qualifications is good for gaining knowledge, a foundation, a background of the field of work and/or area of expertise one intends to explore. However, qualifications
alone IS NOT ENOUGH. That's where the need for EXPERIENCE is essential.
EXPERIENCE
I believe experience is better than qualifications. Let me explain; a person obtains the knowledge required for a particular field of work through experience while actually working.. In addition, they are more efficient because they are able to execute tasks faster and yield results sooner than a person who only has knowledge but not as much experience; perhaps because they already have a system in place to tackle tasks.
Personal views
On a personal note, it is upsetting when we undermine those who do not have the required qualifications yet have years of experience and are efficient in their work. If an employee should seek a qualification, it should be for the sake of getting better at their job.
This is a short blog post; I merely wanted to bring a point across.
Thanks so much for taking time to read this post.
